I took Matsubayashi shorin-ryu as a teenager for several years. I guess I have a soft spot in my heart for it still.

It would depend on the intent, but when it comes to doing what martial Arts are originally intended for (i.e inflicting damage on a human during hostilities), I will always adhere to a combination of Krav Maga and pressure point based knuckle striking arts.
If I wanted to look cool or interesting, I'd look towards Jeet Kune Do or Wing Chun (Tsun) with a heavy leavening of Muay Thai.

Take one and focus on it. I was a wrestler in high school, so if were going to do one, it would be Jiu Jitsu. My favorite martial art is Light Infantry Tactics. I'm particularly fond of the L shaped ambush. Executing, not walking into, mind you.

Mine is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but it's also the only one I had any exposure to. It's been almost ten years since I last went to a session and can still kick much but when I wrestle others.
